Nick Tumilowicz, a 20-year renewable energy industry veteran, is Principal Project Manager leading the DER integration applied research initiative at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). By developing demonstration and pilot projects across the international community, he addresses the utility challenges of high-penetration renewables and advises on technical solutions, validate value streams, and inform industry standards. He is motivated by maximizing development and deployment efficiencies in distributed energy technologies into practical, real-world contexts.

Prior to joining EPRI, Tumilowicz drove global research and development as Director of Energy Storage with SunEdison, building the world’s largest managed renewable power plant fleet. Nick also managed the service department at the nation’s leading residential renewable integrator, REC Solar (now Sunrun). As a research student, he supported the NASA spacecraft engineering hardware testing initiative at the US Department of Defense, Naval Research Laboratory.
